PHILODENDRON

Light: Will tolerate low-light situations but thrive in bright indirect light! Do not put in direct sun as this will scorch the leaves. These plants grow on the forest floor and receive filtered light through the trees leaves!

Water: Leaves will become droopy when it needs water asap! Allow your Philodendron to dry about 50% or the top inch of soil at least and then water again, enough until water runs out of the holes in the bottom of your drainage pot. Avoid over watering to prevent root rot and yellowing leaves.

Soil: Philodendrons prefer a chunky well draining soil mixture. Include substrates such as orchid bark, coarse perlite, pumice and coco coir into your soil!

Fertilizing: Apply once a month during the growing season, spring & summer. Your Philo. will go through a dormant period in the winter and does not need fertilizer. Also less watering is needed during this time. Reapply fertilizer in the spring at the first sign of new growth!!

Temperature: Philodendron prefer warm temperatures between 75°F and 85°F during the day and between 65°F and 70°F

Humidity: Philodendrons are not as fussy for needing humidity, however they thrive best in a 50%-60% humidity level range! They can even tolerate upwards of 75% humidity. Create a humid environment by misting the plant, using a pebble tray or a humidifier or grouping plants together. To read the levels in your home, be sure to invest in a hygrometer!

Pet Friendly(Toxic): Philodendrons are toxic if ingested. Will cause irritation to the mouth and stomach and can cause vomiting.

Air Purifying: Don’t all plants?!?

Growth Pattern: Philodendron loves to climb! Give your plant a moss pole or trellis to grow upwards. Pruning your plant will allow you to keep the desired shape you’d like! Some Philo's have aerial roots that are looking to attach to another surface to support growth!
